At emme, our philosophy springs from a belief in collective power, rooted dignity, and boundless possibility. We’re not merely responding to disparities. We’re nurturing a movement that reimagines maternal wellness for underserved pregnant women and their families.

Holism over hierarchy

We view wellness as more than medical metrics. It’s spiritual, emotional, social, and economic. In every interaction, from community outreach to health coaching, we honor full personhood, recognizing that stress, history, and systemic injustice shape experience just as deeply as biology.

Listening to lead

Every program begins with the voices of the women we serve. Their stories guide our design. Their wisdom fuels our mentoring, peer support groups, and healing circles. Our leadership is built from lived experience, especially the resilience of those most impacted by maternal inequities. Leadership and community rise together.

Meaningful space for transformation

emme is a sanctuary, physical and emotional, for healing. Our Safe Haven concept will bring to life a place to belong, to learn, to grow: with trauma-attuned therapy, doula and midwifery care, parenting education, spiritual nurture, and economic empowerment, all woven together. This is a space that honors identity, story, and potential.

Education that empowers

Our name reflects our guiding values: empowerment, mindfulness, motivation, education. These aren’t buzzwords. They shape every experience. We build skills, from doula training to resource navigation, that let people claim agency, health, and self-determination.

Building forward, together

This is only the beginning. In the next phases, we’re expanding wraparound housing and childcare, launching a fellowship for community birth workers, deepening policy partnerships, and scaling a network of peer-centered care across communities. Healing becomes systemic when grassroots experience aligns with advocacy.

Community at the helm

emme is led by and for Black and Brown women and girls and families. We invest in our leaders, survivors, mothers, advocates, and elevate their voice in healing and organizational growth.
